Linden Breathe -
the canvas becomes a stage, too late. The live performance has already begun. I paint the same linden leaf again and again. Not the same, never the same. Something presses against the form that tries to hold it. It doesn’t hold. Repetition fails to stabilize. The image slips, points elsewhere. On my way through Berlin, looking into the trees—already not the one who arrives. The encounter begins before it happens. There is no image of the future. No image of the soul. Only traces of a becoming. The leaf: each time the same, each time different. My breath – repeating, never the same. I cannot become another, and yet I am never the same. I paint what cannot be painted.
